About Manchester Storm

Manchester Storm are a British professional ice hockey team originally founded in 1995 and re-formed in 2015. The original Manchester Storm team were founded in 1995 as a tenant of the newly-opened Manchester Arena. They are members of the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) and are based at Planet Ice, Altrincham, Greater Manchester.
Manchester Storm has a longstanding and proud record of delivering ice hockey focused opportunities for members of the local community to participate in. At the front of this is our historic work in local schools and businesses to spread the gospel of ice hockey. In addition, the club is always striving to showcase the world's best sporting talent to engage members of the local community to visit the Storm Shelter to enjoy a fantastic game day experience.
Central to Storm's success is its relationships with local businesses and community organisations. The 'Powerplay Partnership' with NYCDA is one such of those, that both parties are very proud of. The Storm always like to do their bit and can frequently be seen promoting local and national causes with bespoke home kits. Campaigns we are always proud to get behind include support for the NHS, LGBT community and showing our appreciation to our Armed Forces.
Looking back on the Powerplay Partnership, towards the summer of 2022, as part of the celebration of our partnership, we got together for a photo shoot and cheque presentation at the Storm Shelter. It was great to mark the achievements made, which includes the recent raising of £1,878, as well as putting time aside to plan how we will raise greater amounts for our community and player development programmes going forward.

Where do the proceeds go?
All proceeds from the 'Powerplay Partnership' go towards supporting the Storm's community and player development activities in the local area of Trafford, Greater Manchester and beyond. Using the power of professional sport, in particular ice hockey, the club look to engage more and more young people and their families across the 2022/23 season and beyond.
Images featured here show the real life impact of these projects, across a wide variety of local people, from a host of different backgrounds, in the local community. Great projects the club support include the EIHL Pride Weekend and the annual 'air the bear' event during the Xmas period, which is an opportunity for fans to donate toys to local charities and hospitals. The aim is clear as we look to provide opportunities along the way for local young people, of all backgrounds and abilities, to represent the club in the famous Storm Shelter.
Going forward the Powerplay Partnership between Storm and NYCDA is focused on raising exposure of and funding for the Storm's community programme, with a particular focus in getting hockey sticks and pucks in the hands of as many local young people as possible. Engagement with local schools and businesses is crucial as we look to development playing opportunities at community level and our academy.
