About Weston-super-Mare AFC

Weston-super-Mare AFC is your local football team playing at the 2nd highest level of non league football. With your support that club will maintain its professional standards and be able to move up in the pyramid system. The aim of Weston-S-Mare AFC is to create opportunities for local players to play at the high standard of football whilst also giving the opportunities to become coaches, referees and many more job opportunities.

Weston-super-Mare AFC is open to the community with some excellent facilities available from a state of the art all weather 3G pitch, function rooms and skittle alleys. Your support for the lottery partnership will enable the club to continue their good work as the local community sports hub for thousands of local families.

The Sports Active Seagulls Community Trust is a registered charity (1145627) that is looking to develop different projects and partnerships throughout Weston-super-Mare and North Somerset. These projects will focus on Social Inclusion, Healthy Living and education as well as general sports inclusion and allow all ages throughout the community to have an active participation in sport.

Every time you play, you support Weston-super-Mare AFC Academy & The Sports Active Seagulls Community Trust, helping the club to grow and deliver more sessions, to more people, across a greater area in North Somerset.

The great thing about our partnership with the NYCDA Weekly Draw is that not only do you get the chance to win cash every week, the partnership allows the club to raise 10s of £1000s each year to help it grow and support our work in the local community.

Where do the proceeds go?

All proceeds from the partnership go towards supporting the club's Academy player development programmes and the Trust's community development activities across Weston-super-Mare and the wider North Somerset area.

The photographs below show the real life impact of these projects, which will focus on Social Inclusion, Healthy Living and education as well as general sports inclusion and allow all ages throughout the community to have an active participation in sport.

The Community Trust are currently linking to Primary and Secondary schools throughout Weston with the emphasis of the work being about behaviour, teamwork and improving social skills, as well as focusing on building self esteem and a respect for each other and the community in which we live. We also run a Youth Club based at the Football club as well as holiday courses.

We also have the support and ability to link with local businesses, Police, Charity organisations, North Somerset Council, Somerset FA and local leagues, as well as working with the community to identify its needs. Through our links with Weston College we can help not only to develop young talent in terms of playing but also the opportunity to become coaches through potential apprenticeships and work experience, as well as employment.
